Occurrence & Structure:

Rare primary mineral association between agate and realgar. Agate occurs as multiple columnar crystal clusters, translucent, with pink-purple coloration and waxy luster. Realgar appears as discontinuous fine veinlets, completely enclosed within the agate, extending longitudinally along the crystal axis, with some sections penetrating to the core.

Symbiotic Relationship:

Realgar is fully encapsulated by agate, forming linear to vein-like features running through the interior of the columnar clusters. The two minerals are interpreted as near-synchronous hydrothermal precipitates, with realgar deposited prior to or during agate formation, and subsequently overgrown and completely enveloped by agate.

Color & Optical Features:

· Agate: Pale pink to pink-purple, evenly toned, translucent.

· Realgar: Bright red to orange-red; streak orange-yellow.

Genetic Summary:

Formed during medium-to-low temperature hydrothermal activity, siliceous colloid and arsenic sulfides precipitated nearly simultaneously. Realgar infiltrated as fine veinlets and was later fully encased and capped by agate, resulting in a rare “crystal-encased vein” mineral association. The occurrence of agate as multi-columnar clusters is uncommon. The specimen exhibits clear encapsulation relationships and vivid color contrast, holding significant mineralogical and collector value.
