Calcite-Quartz Paragenetic Specimen from Erengaobi, Dong Ujimqin Banner, Inner Mongolia, China
This columnar quartz aggregate originates from Erengaobi, Dong Ujimqin Banner, Inner Mongolia. The host quartz crystals display intact hexagonal prismatic forms covered with fine matte drusy silica crusts. Botryoidal and radial lamellar calcite overgrowths epitaxially develop on the upper section of quartz surfaces. Under ultraviolet light, the calcite exhibits striking bright red fluorescence, while the quartz matrix emits faint pale blue luminescence, forming distinct fluorescent color zoning. It represents a typical calcite-quartz paragenetic assemblage formed in hydrothermal mineralization environments.
