All the way back in 2007, we visited the Dongchuan Copper Mine in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. The local miners took us down to see a very special pocket containing a type of pink aragonite that had never been seen before. Inside the cave, there were stalactites made of the material, which was breathtaking to behold. When we chiseled a small piece out, we saw that at the bottom of the aragonite, there was purple fluorite as well. In the next month, the miners helped us extract all the pink aragonite from the entire mine.
