This calcite specimen has a truly unique shape. Its many flat, scale-like crystals have come together to form a very round and compact form. The excellent transparency of the crystals in this piece allow for a fascinating view inside at how the crystals are layered together, like a ball of ice. The crystals at the very top of this specimen have a tinge of rust-red coloration, giving the whole piece an appearance like the moon at the beginning of an eclipse.
