Over the years, the Shuikoushan lead-zinc mine in Hengyang has produced some beautiful specimens featuring sphalerite, galena, and calcite together, which is a characteristic of this locality. In this piece, bright white flake calcite surrounds red-brown sphalerite, which has a glinting glass-like luster. These days, high quality sphalerite like this is very rare, which makes this piece from 15 years ago a real catch.
